Like others have said, the watch is great. Analog is easy to read, digital has loads of features. When new, the band is very nice, but it doesn't last nearly as long as the watch. I am ordering my 3rd Forester, primarily due to the band failure (a new Casio band is about the same price as a new watch). Also, as others mentioned, the crystal does get scratched and the band pin holes do wear. Even so, the value for $30 is still very good.


I've been wearing this type of watch (Casio Analog-Digital Forester Illuminator) for over ten years. They last for about three years and then the digital display starts to fade away (even with new batteries). The Forester works well everywhere from winter camping in the mountains to summer hiking in the desert. The push button illuminator is very handy in the middle of the night and the dual time zone feature is helpful when traveling. The watch can take a lot of abuse and still keep perfect time.


I totally agree with the first reviewer, as I am in the exact same position: had two of these watches before and am crazy for them. The band is indeed designed to last no more than 2 years. I also decided to buy a brand new watch, after the first band gave out, because of the price of the replacement band. I love the multi-time zone display capability, as I travel abroad often on business and always leave the analog display on NY Time, while using the digital display for the local time wherever I am in the globe.


I really love these watches. I have owned two now. I purchased the first one because it's a sports watch, and I am an active person. It si also very light weight. The problem is, I only got two years out of the band. When looking for a new band, I found only one website that had it, and it was only a couple of dollars cheaper than buying a whole new watch. I liked the watch so much, I purchased a second one. Again, the band only lasted two years. I wish they had a longer lasting band than this, especially since it's supposed to be a sports watch. At this point, watch #3 will be the forester with the metal band.


I've had one of these watches for 5 years, it keeps perfect time and date, has a great stop watch function, digital plus analog time-- what more could you want? OK, maybe it's not the fashion statement you're after, but when I want to impress somebody I drag out the Seiko, which never has the right time. It's true that the plastic crystal gets scratched up (but hey, it's a rubber watch, right? What do you want for $25?)and after a few years the pin sockets get worn so that the strap comes loose, which is why I'm buying a new one now. Also, I can't hear the alarm, but that's because my hearing has lost the high frequencies, and it's hard to read the hands in the dark when you push the illuminator button-- BUT all in all I would say the Forester Illuminator is near the top of the World's Best Rubber Watches. Or at least it was back in the distant past when I bought mine. We'll see how the new one holds up.
