Made for the rugged sea-farer, this Casio Pathfinder Triple Sensor men's digital watch (model SPW1000-2V) includes a built-in digital compass, thermometer, barometer, and depth gauge. It's also solar powered and offers wireless atomic clock updates. This radio-controlled watch receives a time calibration signal transmitted from Fort Collins, Colorado, and signal reception is possible within a radius of about 2,000 miles from the Fort Collins transmitter. You can choose to automatically receive this signal four times a day, or manually update the watch to the atomic clock.

And because it's solar-powered--charging in either sunlight or indoor light--you'll never have to deal with changing the battery. Light enters the watch through the sapphire crystal and dial, and hits a solar cell beneath the dial. Current is created and stored in the battery.

The digital compass displays 16 directions and has a 5-set memory capacity that captures direction, month, date, and measurements time data. You can predict changing weather patterns using the PathfinderÕs barometer. It takes readings every two hours, stores them automatically, and can graphically display the barometric pressure for the past 26 hours. It also offers a depth gauge to measure and record ranges from 0 to 80 meters (0 to 263 feet). You can change from meters to feet easily. The watch uses a system-specific nitrogen loading graph.

Timing functions include a 1/100-second stopwatch with a 60-minute measuring capacity with elapsed time, split time, and 1st/2nd place time modes, optional hourly signal, daily alarm, 12/24-hour format, and autocalendar (to 2039). Other features include a durable blue resin case and strap, scratch-resistant mineral crystal, AfterGlow LED electro-luminescent backlight, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet).

"no altimeter!!! WHAT? there's a pressure sensor but no Altimeter, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!?" 2009-06-11
By Edom (santa rosa, ca)
This is an awesome watch. But one thing completely BAFFLES ME TO NO END - there's no altimeter! The watch already has a barometer, it's a matter of simple calculation - and you can convert from pressure to altitude, but the watch doesn't do it.... (?) RIDICULOUS!!! The only thing I can figure is that Casio wanted to sell you another watch for hiking... As it is, you'll have to walk around with a calculator or a cheat-sheet to convert the hPa to altitude... Irritates/baffles me... It'd be so easy to implement, given that all the sensors to do this are there... I swear CASIO marketing team did this just to drive me nuts...

(here you go, print this out, and swear at casio everytime you have to use it, because they decided not to build this simple relationship in)

"Casio Men's Sea Pathfinder Solar Atomic Watch #SPW1000-2V" 2009-01-21
By Scott Valentine (Seoul Korea)
Casio has done it again. It does absolutely everything (except complex dive calculations) you would want in a dive watch for recreational diving. I use is primarily for freediving. It is a wonder why it is not more widely available (I've never seen it in a dive shop) and used more. The only reason is it is eschewed by some is that they have been fooled into believing the more expensive watches are better because they are more expensive. These are the same people who pay $600 for Gucci bags.

 "The Everyday Adventure Watch" 2008-10-05
By Mike (Hawaii)
Nice multi-function watch for the everyday adventurer. Large display for easy reading. Watch holds a decent charge, even after a week in my drawer. Many useful features. Such as, barometer for forecasting weather changes. Compass for underwater and land navigation. Depth gauge that moniters and logs multiple dives. Has a neat world atomic clock receiver for TRUE times. Casio rates the watch for ONLY recreational swimming and snorkeling. But was designed to handle 100 meters or 300 ft. Hmmm... So far, have scuba down to 120 ft. a few times with no adverse affects on the watch. NOTE! NOT a professional diver watch! I wouldn't recommend going pass 100 ft. Must set functions to be used on surface before submersion. Otherwise, water might get pass the seals if any of the buttons are depressed while submerged.

Its disappointing that the watch shows up as a dive watch when searching Amazon. The watch is well-made and is good value if you want to take a chance and go diving with it.

i got this watch as a birthday present from my wife and what a gift it was. this watch is almost perfect. The digital compass, the barometer, tidal chart, and moon age functions work great. the only part that is questionable is the thermometer. while wearing the watch you wont get an accurate reading you have to have it off of you body for around 15 mins. but other than that its great. the size is awesome but i like large watches so some people might not like that part. if you are an outdoorsman get this watch. 5 stars!

Customer Buzz
I have read everyones review regarding this watch. Yes this watch is big which is fine because I am a big guy. I wouldn't recommend this watch for the ladies because it is so large. I really do like the look of this watch. The face is big as well as the numbers so it is very easy to read. I have looked at and reviewed just about every tide watch none to man kind before I purchased this one. Lets talk about the tide mode. Most tide watches allow you to put in a city code choice into the watch. Well would if the city code that is in the watch does not match to where you live? Would if it isn't even close to where you live? Well what good is a tide watch if it doesn't give you a tide reading in your area! This is what I really love about this watch. It uses longitude and Lunitidal interval readings to give you a tide reading no matter where your at. The Lunitidal Interval is where the moon is set between Moonrise and Moonset. Once you figure that time out then you figure out that time and the next high tide and program those numbers into the watch. It is not an exact accurate reading but, you can program this watch to come very close to an accurate tide reading in your area. Depending on where you live there can be two high tides taking place in one day. This watch is not set up to tell you this. On the other hand there is no other tide watch that will do this either. This watch will by far give you a more accurate reading than any other Tide Watch on the market. How nice it is to look down at your watch and be able to tell what the tide is and wether the moon is full or not. The other thing I liked about Casio is that they help you program this watch by giving instructions on the internet. How do you know if your going to like the watch if you don't know how it works? I was able to pull up the instructions of this watch on Casio Pathfinder watch manuels in the internet before I even purchased the watch. Which explained everything to me about this watch and how to program it. The Barometer graph is small but very helpful. This watch will tell you the temperature but you really have to read the instructions carefully to program this watch accurately. I like the fact that this watch is light. The watch ligths up really well when it is dark. The illuminesence is so bright that you can even see it in the sun light. I would recommend this watch to anyone who likes to fish, scuba dive, or any kind of boating or Sailing that you may do. If you like being on the water this is the watch for you. I scuba dive but I would not recommend you use this for scubadiving. 1. because it doesn't give you a depth measurement underwater. 2. if you push the buttons while you are underwater it might leak. This watch has been rated to go 100 meters which is 330 feet. I use a wrist computer made for scubadiving. I have had Casio watches in the past that I did use for scubdiving and they never leaked so I leave this decision upto to you. I have had a lot of Casio watches in the past and they are tough as nails. So plan on having this watch for a while. I hope this review has helped you in making your decision.

Customer Buzz
I got this watch specifically for the tide function so I was slightly disappointed with the accuracy of that function. Everything else about the watch is great.

Pros:
Large Size - for some reason I like the large size makes me feel like I have a piece of scientific equipment on my wrist
Barometer- works well and checks out accurately with other sources
Compass - Very cool option that works well
Lunar Cycles - Don't use it so much, but its accurate to within a day
Timers - A few good options for setting for different purposes
Thermometer- Works well when the watch is off your wrist
Waterproof - Why yes it is

Cons:
Tide Chart- Its not very accurate. It gives me a good idea around where the tides are, but I use it for surf fishing and need(prefer) much more accuracy. I would suggest a watch with a programmable tide chart if you want a watch for this reason.

I would buy this watch knowing everything I know about it now. All the bells and whistles make up for the lack of accuracy on the tide graph. I may get a cheapo watch for surf fishing with a programmable tide option.

Customer Buzz
Casio's reputation is known, one cannot fail in purchasing one of their products. The Sea Pathfinder Tide Watch is one of those good products. Yet, I believe it could have been better in the sense that although it provides chronometer and all for the purpose of timing races, it does not offer a stop watch for the use in taking one's position with the help of a navigational instrument such as a sextant. And although its compass can be useful and accurate, it does not provide a memory to keep multiple bearings at single one time, again a helpful program for navigational purposes. So, although I am satisfied with the product, I am still left on my expectations. Perhaps a word or two to Casio might bring some improvements..
As for Amazon, well, it is always very good in providing the goods it sells. No complain there.

Customer Buzz
Race start countdown timer is very functional as it includes a reset time that can be recalled with the press of a button anytime a countdown is in progress. Example: Set initial countdown to 5 min and the reset to 4. If you are a few seconds late to start the 5 min count, instantly advance to a 4 min count as RC raises "prep" by pressing reset. Can be set for "countdown and repeat" or "countdown then countup in stopwath mode." Big dial and characters; easy to read. Very intuitive user interface. Tide prediction mode assumes 2 highs / 2 lows per 24 hours; consequently useless except for USA East Coast. Alarm / countdown beeper volume too low; barely audible. Other functions, especially digital compass and barometer work well. Rotating compass bezel is marked in cardinal points (N, NE, E) rather than numeric degrees. The latter would be more convenient.

Customer Buzz
The Casio tide watch was not as precise as my husband anticipated it to be. He specifically wanted the watch so he could tell the tides at a glance, not try to calculate what they may be within 2-3 hours.

Customer Buzz
I bought this watch for yacht racing and kayaking. The most important features for me are the timer and the tide chart. Compass is very handy as a backup device.

Downsides:

a. The tide indicator is mighty approximate. It would be very nice if you could manually enter the time of high tide for one or more favorite harbors and then have the watch compute the tides from then on and display the high and low tides digitally. Currently, the best you can do is "about an hour from high tide" or "the tide should be going out".

b. The button for reading the barometer is situated so that it can be pressed accidentally by flexing the wrist. 50% of the time when I glance at the watch, I get a barometric pressure instead of the time. Not convenient when counting down the seconds before a start. This issue could easily be solved by making the barometer a "press twice within one second" switch.

c. Given that they've got a barometer in the watch, would it have hurt to make it an altimeter as well? Some of us sailors go on the occasional hike or skiing expedition too.

The watch is big and I occasionally get the "that's the largest watch I've ever seen" comment, but so what? Lots of info is immediately available and it's in sufficiently large type that I don't have to squint.

Customer Buzz
A great big, chunky, manly man watch. Just what my husband wanted. And the numbers are big enough so he can see them easily. I love that it tells the temperature and has a compass, but on different screens so I don't have to distinguish between a half-dozen little dials on the face.

Customer Buzz
Excellent watch--except for the size and setting the Luni-Tidal Interval. The instructions in the manual are not at all intuitive and I spent a couple of hours two days in a row talking to Casio Customer Service to help set the watch up for local tides. No one in the tech shop seemed to know which variables to plug in the formula listed in the owner's manual. I finally figured out a better, simpler way of calculating the LT Interval on my own. The tides are accurate but not precise, due to the 6-hour time increments on the tide graph. It it still excellent as a handy general tide reference. There is also no capability of predicting tide more than about 6 or 12 hours ahead of time.

The temperature function is only accurate when the watch is removed from the wrist.

The barometer is a cool function and it graphs over a 24 hour period to show trends.

I've not yet had to replace any of the four batteries, but I imagine this will be a royal pain when the time comes.

All in all it is a great package of information available on your wrist. The watch is durable and functional.

Customer Buzz
I have had the same watch for over 5 years now, when my old one broke I bought a new one, and it is everything I want in a watch. I do wish the temperature would work accurately but I guess I can't have everything. Very good Price and very good seller

Casio Men's Sea Analog Illuminator Dual LED Dive Watch #MDV102-1AV

Customer Buzz
This is a great watch for the price.
I own a couple of more expensive dive watches and was looking for a cheaper version to wear for yard work to not have to worry about any scratches it may pick up, this one does the trick. For $50 it is a very solid watch. I would agree with other reviewers that the strap is the weak point of this watch, if I were planning on wearing this often I would definitely want to change it but for occasional use it will do just fine.
From a distance it definitely looks great, up close I would not agree with reviews that make it sound like it compares to the likes of a luxury watch. The bezel is busy with information and the curved glass makes it appear to me that the face is sunken down into the watch. The pictures here make it appear that the face is jet black with contrasting white text, minute and hour markers that really 'pop'. In reality the face is more a very dark grey and the appearance is more bland and less contrasting.
However, I didn't buy this expecting another Submariner and I am very happy with the watch. The bezel action feels very solid and it has kept very accurate time so far. The only other dissapointment I have is the short lasting luminosity of the dial, however the light is so powerful this is really a non-issue. You won't find better for $50!

Customer Buzz
Received this watch recently and so far am impressed. The important facts are:

1) It looks much nicer in real life, than the pictures here show. It looks very classy and just looks great.
2) The LED light is outstanding. I don't know how much it will affect battery life though. Shouldn't be too much since it's an LED.
3) The band it came with is thick rubber (like a gshock) and I am a little disappointed in it's feel. I'll probably try to find a better band. Despite the band, I still gave it a 5 star because the watch itself is gorgeous and bands can be replaced easily enough.

BTW, this could be a great (and cheap) gift too. It's really really nice looking.

Customer Buzz
I received this watch two days ago and love it. I, unlike many others, do not have problem with the wrist strap. The illumination is great at night, but the watch also has a glow feature that when charged works quite well. I would recommend this watch to people looking for a bold but not too large dial face watch. Since it is able to reach decent diving depths , it is useful as a beginning divers watch. Great watch overall. Can not complain about anything so far.

Customer Buzz
Like most of the other reviews I read.....this is a really nice watch for the $. The band is a bit stiff, but it fits me well enough to be comfortable. The crystal is convex, and mine has scratches after only a couple weeks of wearing it.......but I work outside, and who cares ?? It still looks great. Killer light. Very bright. I'll buy another one when I wreck this one. I like it.

Customer Buzz
It's a fantastic watch by Casion, I love it, it confortable, good looking and handly

Customer Buzz
I really like the watch, it looks nice and is a reasonable price. I have replaced the watch band because it was unconfortable.

Customer Buzz
I just received this watch and wow. It looks like a much nicer time piece than it's low price suggests. It seems very sturdy but not too heavy or thick on my wrist. I don't have a problem with the band, it seems like any other plastic Casio watch I've owned. The white hands stand out on the black face better in person than the factory photo depicts. If you are looking for a no nonsense face watch with a nice bright light, this is it.

Customer Buzz
The watch was received quickly, and the quality is very good. I'm a firefighter, so I abuse it quite often, and it's holding up great for a cheap price.

Customer Buzz
did not care for the band. and the knobs on the watch gouge me. i would have returned the watch if i hadn't thrown the packaging away.

Customer Buzz
This is a great watch, except for the watch band,I replaced it with Men's Rubbertech Silicone Watchband 22mm available from The Watch Store thru Amazon.the watchband is very comfortable. Dave Sahaida
