Casio Men's Pathfinder Altimeter/Barometer/ Digital Compass Solar Digital Watch #PAG80T-7V

Product Description

Perfect for rugged adventurers and weekend warriors, the solar-powered casio Pathfinder men's titanium sport watch is loaded with a digital compass and altimeter/barometer/thermometer--perfect for both mountain trekking and cave spelunking. The durable round watch case (measuring 52mm/2.04 inches wide) and bracelet are made of titanium, which is nearly 50 percent lighter than steel, but 30 percent stronger. It's also particularly resistant to salt water corrosion, as well as hypo-allergenic--perfect for those with metal allergies.

The altimeter offers 5-meter measurements from -700 to 10,000 meters, and it can store altitude, month, date and time data, provide tendency and differential graphs, track cumulative ascent/descent, and sound an alarm when you reach a specified altitude. The watch also has a digital compass with 16 points of measurement displayed on the dial face. Other environmental and timekeeping features include:

  • Barometer with atmospheric pressure tendency/differential graphics
  • Thermometer
  • World Time: 29 times zones (30 cities), city code display, daylight saving on/off
  • 5 daily alarms
  • 1/100 second stopwatch with 10-hour capacity and elapsed/split time modes and 1st-2nd place times
  • Countdown timer with 60-minute range
  • Auto Calendar (pre-programmed until the year 2099)
This watch also features a ±15-second accuracy per month, Afterglow backlighting, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet)--offering protection from accidental splashes as well suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and light recreational diving. This solar-powered watch has a battery life of up to 6 months on a full charge (without further exposure to light).

bought this watch over 2 years ago. it is still working perfectly. compass is very accurate. altimeter is cool but does not work when you are on a plane. you also need to frequently reset the altimeter depending on your wearabouts outside temperature etc. thermometer is a waste of time as it basically picks up your body temperature and not the outside temerpature. if you go for the watch spend the extra and go for the titanium it makes the watch so light, no one can believe how light it is(the watch looks very very large and heavy) it has a built in solar panel so need to change batteries.
enjoy

I can't get into the technical description of this item since I purchased it for my husband who is an avid fisherman. He fishes all year long if it is using our bass boat in the summer months and ice fishing in the cold miserable months (which I won't do). His favorite features of the watch is the Thermometer and the Barometer with atmospheric pressure which he states can tell him if it will be a good day for fishing or not. He does not wear a watch often and when he saw the size of the watch face he was worried it would be too heavy and uncomfortable. To his surprise, it is made of very light materials and the size did not get in the way. Helps that is a G-SHOCK so it will not be affected by impacts, shaking or extreme temperatures. The the built-in solar battery is another added bonus since it will eliminate the need of replacing batteries, and the radio-controlled function automatically sets the time. He is still in the process of learning how to use the compass and altimeter. Be prepared that the instruction manual is a very "fat" book - however, it did not scare my husband away from reading it.

Well, its a very nice watch, im really a big casio fan, have six casio watches, one that has fourteen years( the casio data bank dbx52), the pag-80t has an elegant case and good material (titanium) well localized buttons and it doesnt get scratched as steel does.I Dont understand why it doesnt has depthmeter. Casio should it think about that. The compass, barometer and altimeter are very precise comparing them with my GPS. One thing that i didnt like is the size relation beetwen the case and the titanium wrist band, the wrist band is too little. I got really disappointed with the auto light system that stopped working at the second day using the watch (my databank has 14 years without any problem) I really recommend buying the PAG-1500T instead of this one, because of the smaller case, the waveceptor function, and the tide graph, and it has better screen sthetics. Thanks...

This watch is excellent overall. All the functions seem to work as expected. The only times is hasn't were once when it gave a reading off about 90 degrees while sitting in a running car and it routinely gives differing alititudes at the same spot. Of course I know you have to recalibrate the altimeter and that running machinery can affect magnetic fields so those really don't count.

The watch is exctremely lightweight for it's size and does suprise people wghen they hold it. The only real problem I have is a minor one that I knew about when I bought it. The watch is HUGE! I'm a big guy and it makes my wrist look small.

But if that's the only problem, I just need bigger wrists.

I love this watch. I had the plastic green one with the orange button on the front. While wating for a connecting flight from Ali A Saleem Kuwait I stopped by the PX and fell in love with this watch.
The features I love the most are the tilt illumination, the compass, the baro/temp gauge and the world time feature.
It holds up great in desert conditions, and stays charged even under sodium/floresent lighting.
For being a large watch (I love large watches), it is very light.
It is also very durable, the solar panel/crystal is virtually indestructable.
I reccommend this watch for anyone needing a durable multi-function watch

Customer Buzz
I purchased this watch as a Valentine's Day gift for my boyfriend and he LOVES IT! If your guy is a gadget-loving dude, you can't go wrong with this watch. The only thing you need to watch out for is the hourly weather reports he recites, the direction of the compass, how far above sea level you are, etc.

As for looks, it's very sporty and has a high wrist profile, but is very lightweight due to the titanium band. The band ran a little large, but this was easily remedied with a quick trip to the jeweler to have a couple of links removed.

Yes, this watch has a lot of bells and whistles, but use your head and common sense when it comes to the measurements. If you're flying a plane, use the aircraft's altimeter rather than the watch's for specific numbers, and so on.

Enjoy!

Customer Buzz
This watch stands out in price/performance terms in this category. I replaced a 5-year old similar Casio model that was all plastic and required a battery. (When you are deep in the mountains batteries are a nuisance.)

With solar power the watch is always ready for action. It even conserves power when it sits overnight by turning off the display. All the functions work as documented.

One minor feature that is surprisingly useful to me is the time zone change function based on city location. It's much faster and easier to switch as you move around the world.

With a titanium band I expect this one to last at least 5 years. Although the watch is large and noticeable it is very lightweight.

Expect to get labeled as a bit of a geek if you wear this watch as a day to day timepiece. It's information over style although the looks work for me.

Customer Buzz
At first, the size of the face alarmed me, as it is rather large, but the style, accuracy and capabilities are very nice. Seems to be very durable, as it has taken more than a few hard knocks. Very lightweight and very attractive and eye catching. Easy to read and has way more capabilities than I will ever need, but are there just in case.

Customer Buzz
I actually returned this. It's a really nice watch, but it's bigger than it looks on-line. Make sure it fits you OK before you order.

Customer Buzz
Watch arrived ahead of schedule and in excellent condition though frustrated because I had to wait two weeks until my birthday before I was allowed to ware the watch. Awesome looking watch all functions work well, a fitting replacement for my old Seiko watch that lasted me 30 years. My daughter has asked if she can have a similar watch for her birthday.

Casio Men's Pathfinder Altimeter/Barometer/ Digital Compass Solar Digital Watch #PAG80-1V

Product Description

Set a course for adventure every day you wear this solar-powered casio Pathfinder Triple Sensor men's digital watch (model PAG80-1V), which includes a built-in digital compass, altimeter, barometer, and thermometer. This extra-large, round watch features large function buttons that are easily accessible even when wearing gloves. Both the case and strap are made from durable resin. The digital compass displays 16 directions and has a 5-set memory capacity that captures direction, month, date, and measurements time data. The altimeter measures up to 32,800 feet (10,000 meters) in 20-foot (5-meter) increments, and it can store 50 sets of altitude memory with date and temperature. It also provides a target altitude alarm and graphing capability for target and altitude tendency.

Because it's solar-powered--charging in either sunlight or indoor light--you'll never have to deal with changing the battery. Light enters the watch through the sapphire crystal and dial, and hits a solar cell beneath the dial. Current is created and stored in the battery. The duplex LCD provides two liquid crystal panels, enabling you to select from among different display patterns.

It offers a 1/100-second stopwatch with a 60-minute measuring capacity and elapsed time, split time, and 1st/2nd place time modes. It also includes a yacht timer, which is used to time the start of regattas. The countdown period can be set from 1 to 10 minutes. An acoustic signal is emitted after each minute has elapsed and then once a second for the last ten seconds. Other timekeeping functions include a daily alarm, optional hourly time signal, and 12/24-hour formats. Other features include a comfortable resin strap, scratch-resistant mineral crystal, AfterGlow LED electro-luminescent backlight, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet).

Customer Buzz
I bought this watch for my boyfriend who's deployed in Iraq. He uses it for everything. The time was a little off because I didn't know if Iraq had daylight savings time or not, but he loves it. He's even bragged to his friends about how nice his new watch is!

Customer Buzz
This is a really well-engineered watch with many features that are far superior to my previous-generation altimeter watch. But I bought it heading into an upstate New York winter and that is presenting a problem since the watch is inside my sleeve and not exposed to light as required for solar charging. As a result I'm finding I have to wear the watch one day, then leave it in a window all the next day to get an adequate charge for operating. Too much of a tradeoff for the cool feature of solar charging, so I'd recommend you buy the same watch in the battery-operated model.

UPDATE: according to the manual (p. E-87), "in order to generate enough power for normal daily operations" the watch needs to be exposed to 5 minutes a day of outdoor sunlight or 21 minutes a day of sunlight through a window. So now I just leave it on a windowsill till I'm ready to wear it. And next summer when I go backpacking I'll strap it on the top of my pack (something that's advisable anyway for accurate altimeter readings, which are affected by temperature/body heat) and perhaps achieve the 6 hours of full sunlight required for a complete charge.

UPDATE: continuing with my reading of the manual, there's a supplement on charging that says you should charge the watch to its maximum before using. I left it outdoors for 2 days on a trip to Texas and now have "high" battery charge at all times with just a few hours on a sunny windshield every couple days. Would like to change my rating to 4 or maybe 5 stars with this big concern out of the way.

Customer Buzz
I bought this watch to use while deployed to Iraq and it has never failed. It does have a problem with taking tempatures quickly...it does not take them quickly. You have to let the watch get acclimatized to the temp while it is not on you. It does say that in the operators manual too. It takes about 20 minutes but I will say it does accurately go up to 110 degrees in the shade. I love this watch!

Customer Buzz
I have been using this product for the last few weeks. I am very satified with this product. Instructions were easy to follow. All features of this watch work well. The watch is large that I expected, however the window display is easy to see and set. I purchased this product because of the compass feature. The feature works well and fairly accurate in identifing direction.

Customer Buzz
This watch does exactly what I expected. It gives me general compass bearings, tells me the altitude (roughly), and gives me the temperature (off wrist). It even tells me what time it is. The large face is easy to read without bifocals and the light does come on when you turn the watch to your face.

The solar idea is nice. I have yet to see the power go below high and I don't stay out in the sun. Don't be suprised when you see the face absolutely blank - it's a power saving feature when no movement is sensed.

I gave it four stars because I don't care for the wrist band. It is too firm and does not feel natural like cloth or leather (but that's just my personal preference).

Customer Buzz
The Pathfinder solar watch lives up to what i expected it to. The temperature, altimeter, barometer and compass works as advertised. If i ever wanted to know how hot it is, how high up i am, if the weather is gonna change or what direction i'm going, this is the watch to own.

Customer Buzz
This is the third Pathfinder I have owned - All three have been great watches, with one minor exception and hopefully this watch will change that -
This watch is a SOLAR watch which IS NOT supposed to require battery replacement - If that is true, then all should be good - Because, on the replacement of batteries, you can't do it yourself - You can try, but very doubtful if you will get the watch to function normally again -

One last thing on Pathfinder watches - Take them off when in the shower, the soap buildup from after a few years will jam up the mechanisms for the different functions of the watch -

Customer Buzz
Overall this is a good watch; however, the non time keeping features have fallen short of my expectations. The compass can not be used for navigating even the shortest legs due to an 11 degree margin of error. The thermometer or altimeter features lack accuracy as well and can only be used to take rough measurements. The stop watch and alarm features are easy to use. The durability is high and that is an important feature to me. Casio advertises that a signal sent out daily will keep the time set correctly but this feature will not work if you are outside of North America as I often am. In summation this is a good watch for outdoor activities but the navigational features leave something to be desired.

Customer Buzz
This watch is perfect for anyone who likes to be outdoors. For myself being in the Marines and current deployed right now this watch is perfect for what I do. With a built in compass and different time zones it certainly makes my life easier. I recomand this watch to anyone in the Armed Forces or anyone who just like to hick.
