Casio Men's Waveceptor Atomic Sport Watch #WV200A-1AV
Product Description
Boasting the precision and reliability of multi-band atomic timekeeping, the Sport Watch #WV200A-1AV is part of casio's rugged and stylish Waveceptor collection. This self-adjusting timepiece features a large LCD readout that has the capability to display the day of the week in nine different languages. Stopwatch and alarm timer functionality also help keep you on-track. Water resistant to 200 meters (660 feet), this casio original even offers 48-city world time and 12 or 24 hour formats, so you can always be ready to travel the globe.I have an older Casio watch that I really love, but the battery died recently and I haven't had a chance to replace it yet. I bought this one to tide me over. This one looks good. It's light. It's comfortable. The default display includes the day of the week, date, and time, which is what I like to see on the watch face. The other functions are less useful to me but it's nice to know they're there if I need them.
This watch doesn't sync with atomic time as well as my older Casio did, but it does do so. It usually works best when I'm outside where it probably has clearer access to the radio signal from the atomic clock.
Casio digital watches aren't Rolexes, of course, but I find them to be inexpensive, reliable, nice-looking timepieces that I'm perfectly happy to wear. They've been a favorite of mine for decades and probably always will be.
I love this watch! Looks cool, fits great, easy to use functions. The time syncs for me with just leaving the watch on my office desk; I do not need to place in a window. Surprisingly, I was recently in Nicaragua and the time still synched down there! I am very satisfied with this watch.
I really like this watch - but - I'm having the same issue as another reviewer, it simply will not synch up with the atomic clock. I've tried everything but it just won't synch. I even left it in an upstairs window facing Colorado overnight but still no good. The watch shows that it's last synch was back in July of 2008. I contacted Casio tech support but they were absolutely no help at all. After verifying the watch was optioned correctly, they told me to set the time manually. Gee, thanks, I buy a watch that is supposed to automatically synch up with the atomic clock and they recommend that I set the time manually?!? Looks I'm sending this one back and will try another. I'll update this review after I receive the replacement.
Update: I received the replacement watch and it appears to be working fine. It has synchronized with the atomic clock all but one night since I received it. This is a great watch! If not for the bad watch that I initially received, I would have given this watch 5 stars!
See below, I had no luck getting the watch to connect with the radio time update link. So I decided to return it. I put it in a drawer, and when I took it out to pack it in the box and send it back, I checked and what do you know, it had updated at midnight on it's own! Why it would not manually update but now updates fine by itself I do not know, but, as far as I am concerned all is now well. I am keeping it and love it.
Earlier...
I was looking for a sports watch to use for outdoor activities but also one that would update to correct the time. I used to have an alarm clock that did that and it was very convienent for setting my watches, since I have a few self winding ones and sometimes they stop.
Well I really like the watch but I cannot get it to connect and update for love nor money as they say...It shows a most recent update of June 2008. I have even gone to the extent of leaving it out on the deck all night so there will be absolutely no interference from anything, right?
Still no synch. I don't know if this is due to a bad watch, since no one else seems to have this problem. So I am going to return it and get another one. I will update this review afterwards.
I liked "Time in a Bottle" better than "Atomic Time on Your Wrist". The watch works flawlessly, I think. The reason it is hard to tell is that the watch comes with a mini-manual about 1/4" thick, packed with micro-print instructions in several different languages. I need to get a tensor light and my strongest reading glasses to read the print. No telling what features this watch has that I'm not even aware of yet!
Thus far the watch keep absolutely exact time agreeing perfectly with two other atomic clocks as well as periodic checks with WWV and the NIST software system. As a time piece, you couldn't want more - except for the rubber wrist band that will break at precisely the moment my hands are extended out side my boat thus pitching the watch into the water. It would also be nice if Casio made an atomic wrist watch that had numbers and even more important features that could be read by other than a 22 year old with fighter pilot eyes!
