Casio Men's G-Shock Classic Solar Powered Digital Sports Watch #G2310-1V

Product Description

Take it to the max with the shock-resistant, solar-powered casio G-Shock men's digital sport watch (model G2310-1V), which offers a wealth of performance timing features and cutting edge technology. It features a 30-page databank that allows you to store phone numbers and other valuable contact information (8 characters for name and 12 characters for telephone number). For timing your sports training sessions, it offers a 1/100-second stopwatch with a 100-minute measuring capacity and elapsed time, split time, and 1st/2nd place time modes as well as a 24-hour countdown timer. It's also solar-powered--charging in either sunlight or indoor light--so you'll never have to deal with changing the battery. Light enters the watch through the sapphire crystal and dial, and hits a solar cell beneath the dial. Current is created and stored in the battery.

It has a durable black resin case with silver highlights and comfortable resin strap, and it will stand up to the rigors of recreational scuba diving, with water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet). Timekeeping features include four independent daily alarms (with one snooze alarm), an optional hourly time signal, world time from 29 time zones/27 cities, year/month/date/day display (with an autocalendar to the year 2039), and a battery power indicator. It also offers a scratch-resistant mineral crystal, and AfterGlow LED electro-luminescent backlight.

Highly recommended.
Just on detail.. The light button wich looks to be made of metal is actually plastic, but it looks the same as metal.

The story on how I landed this watch is strange and weird. I had recently thrown away a work watch of mine that had been collecting dust in my lunch box for the past 10 months (battery died after 6 years). Deciding that I wanted something more 'hip', I set out looking for an athletic watch. I started browsing around Timex Ironman watches. Well, after seeing that their bands are absolutely atrocious I threw their watches to the wind. Then, I happened upon a review that said Casio was a pretty durable watch. After some more digging, I found the G-shock series. Instantly, my senses were heightened when I heard some of the testimonials concerning the series longevity (someone said that they ran over their watch with their car and it still survived, another talked of organic solvents being spilled on it and it still surviving). So already, I was pulling out my credit card, eager to buy MY OWN G-shock series and shock the world with my amazingly resilient watch.

I finally got it in the mail, and I joked with my family saying that they should have left it outside in the pouring down rain to see how it would really last. Since then (Early February, '09), I have had it on almost constantly. What I really enjoy about it is that I don't have to worry about it being on my wrist. I throw it on in the morning, and take it off at night. When I am in the bathroom or alone, I secretly bang it against the floor just to see how long this little puppy will last. It is still going with no signs of aging yet.

It has a nice pre-programmed list of cities for world travellers out there. It has 4 alarms, and one mystery alarm that I have no idea what it is there for. It says 'sig' and I'm not entirely sure what to do with that.

The year is in the upper left hand corner, while the date is in the upper right hand corner. The day of the week is above everything else, in its own little box, right next to the solar power cell. It has an 'automatic' light function. I was a little skeptical of this when I first bought it (us pessimists, can you blame us?), but was delightfully surprised with my purchase when the watch light up when I raised and tilted my wrist in the 'viewing' position. I soon turned that off because the light was coming on so often (good and bad, I suppose). The stopwatch feature is especially useful for me since I like to manage a tight studying schedule. As is the timer.

My only real concern is the size of the actual time display. I tried it once for running, and found myself straining while I was running to tell the time. So, for the runners out there, try another watch. The comfort of the band could be a little more on the acceptable side as well, but I can live with it.

Besides the size of the time, which is negligible if you are not running, and the comfort of the band (compared to my oakley watch's band, that is), this watch is everything I could have possibly asked for. Longevity. Simplicity. Timekeeping.

If the price is hindering your decision, think of it like this: You are paying for quality of Casio and the G-shock series. Comparably priced watches, I am positive, will not be able to last nearly as long as this watch will last.

An interesting note that I wanted to add: The watch that I threw away at the beginning of this story, it was a Casio. Illuminator to be exact.

Its a good watch. You can be confidant in your purchase.

Great watch, Best price and Fast Shipping.Very satisfied with seller. Will be doing business with in the future,
This is a great watch , checked all the web sites and this was the best price any where. Perfect transaction. What else can I say.

Customer Buzz
It is a good watch. I like it. It is water and shock resistant and works accurately.
The only regret is that the style is old. It was released in about 2002.

G Shock, this watch is as tough as they say it is, this watch has been through mud, ice, rock walls, feces, and hit up against punching bags countless times, and it stood up. Another thing is that this watch is as accurate as anywatch can get with out being an atomic watch, I still reset the 2 seconds it is off like every 2 months but hey 2 secs, thats not much time at all to be off. One thing I don't like is how the watch face was scratched but it could be just thing things I put this was in. But as for it being classy, when I out my uniform on it looks just as good as any stainless watch. This was money well spent. I am looking foreward for a 3rd G Shock, preferably the Riseman. Hope this helps

This watch is great, sharp looking, and practical. I gotten many positive comments concerning this watch. This is my 3rd G-shock, and by far my favorite. Buy the solar power, so you wont have to replace the battery every 2-3 years.

Customer Buzz
The watch is simple excellent. I did not receive the product at first due to seller mistake in my address. So I had to buy it again, this second time received without any problem.

Customer Buzz
Wife bought it for me several years ago and it is proving to be entirely accurate, durable, and functional.

Relatively easy to set and access features.

Solar is great and it runs without any need for maintenance (other than setting DST option).

Good size too, not ginormous or too small - pretty easy to read.

I'd buy another one if I somehow destroyed this one or lost it...

I wanted a watch for camping, swimming, and boating. Three trips and no problems in or out of the water.

I am a special forces soldier. I have worn a Casio G Shock for years in 3 war zones and there is no better or more reliable watch. On land, sea, or in the air this is the best watch for a hard working man or woman. I am replacing my old one because the battery needs to be replaced and I broke the band while moving gear. The solar power option makes it perfect. I know I will get anouther 15 years of service from this one.
