Casio Men's Referee Timer World Time Sport Watch #W756-2AV

Product Description

The casio Men's Referee Timer World Time Watch features a clean face and intuitive design that makes it perfect for athletes, pee-wee coaches, and even professional referees. Constructed with a stainless steel case, the watch includes a stationary black resin bezel, and a black resin wristband with an adjustable buckle clasp for a unique fit. A durable mineral window shields the digital-gray dial face, which prominently displays the time, along with the day, date, and month. The watch also includes four easy-to-use mode, adjust, light, and reset function buttons along the bezel, as well as a large start/stop button at the six o'clock position. This digital-quartz-powered timepiece is water resistant to 330 feet and comes with a one-year limited manufacturer's warranty.

Customer Buzz
Good quality. Nice easy to read date for jet setters or shift workers. Notice carefully the metal trim rim is purple tinted, which looks like a large women's watch. A refs worst fear is accidently stopping match time. The recessed start button solves that problem. Once started the game clock can not be stopped prematurely. The supplementary chrono can be stopped/started; but the display of neither timers can be saved to show-off PR's; prove actual injury time, or show that the full match time was met when quizzed by your assessor or when summoned to the tournament director's trailer. After the match when you toggle out of "referee mode", the timing displays of scoreboard time and actual time, or your new PR if running, is erased. Countdown timer is good; it can be set to any duration, which is handy for odd-ball youth quarters like 12:30.

Customer Buzz
As as referee for both club, rec, and high school soccer, I was looking for a new watch that offered timing functions geared towards my needs. Most referee watches cost quite a bit more than this one. While not perfect, this watch is still a very good value and should work well for the needs of referees and officials from other sports, as well.

The Good:
* Clear and easy to read display
* Waterproof
* Comfortable and durable band and case
* Stopwatch allows you to preset an event-duration (i.e. 45 minutes for each half of a soccer game). When the event-duration expires an alarm sounds for 10 seconds (or until a button is pushed).
* The stopwatch display initially shows the time of day in the upper display so you can ensure that you start the event at the correct time.
* When you start the stopwatch, the upper display shows total event time (as a running clock) while the lower display shows elapsed time that you can pause to account for injuries, substitutions or delays in the game.
* The alarm will sound for 10 seconds (or until a button is pushed) when the running clock expires and you can then watch the elapsed time to reach your event duration so you can award the extra time you've awarded.
* This setup prevents you from accidentally forgetting to restart the watch, since running time for the event never stops.
* If you prefer to work in a slightly different way, the watch offers a count-down timer that has preset event times (10,12,15,20,25,30,35,40,45 minutes.) It will countdown, alarm, and then automatically start counting up (or repeat the countdown depending on how you programmed it.)
* The watch also offers an interval timer. So you could program the first half's time, the duration of halftime, then the second half's time. It would countdown the first half, alarm, the half-time, alarm, then the second half and alarm and then start counting up. I guess this might be ok for a tournament that had a running clock and strict schedule. And, it would be useful for a runner doing interval training (run/walk/run), and various other uses as you can dream up.

The not-so-good:
* The light is by no means as good as Timex's Indiglo feature.
* The Start/Stop button could protrude a little more and be more responsive.
* The display (while clear and legible) could be bigger (for the purposes of officials on the run).
* There is no vibration alarm feature. So others near you will hear your watch when regulation time expires.
* For the stopwatch, the alarm sounds when the running clock reaches the event clock time. It doesn't also alarm when your elapsed time (with stoppages) reaches the event time. Some may prefer this config, but others may like to have the option for an alarm to also sound when the elapsed time (with stoppages) reaches the event time.
* The watch case and band are navy blue. I actually don't mind this at all. But, I guess it would be preferable for referees if it was black.

NOTES:
After reading another review on Amazon about this watch, I decided to buy. The other review said this watch had the vibration alarm feature, which I found surprising (since the list of features from Casio didn't claim this, nor did the user guide - which I found online - mention this feature). The watch does NOT have the vibration alarm feature. But, the rest of its features are a good value for the money. (If you want the vibration alarm feature, you may want to consider trying to find the Casio RFT-100 which can be purchased from oversees for about $75. I will probably buy one of those when I have extra cash, because it looks very cool. But, for now, this one does the job very well.)

Also, I believe there's an all black version available, but I got this specific model because of the review that said it had vibration alarm and I wanted that feature. Since it doesn't, perhaps the model that's all black would have been a better choice for the referee.

I noticed that some new users are still working with all the features this thing has.
This also goes for the 1av but I forgot to add this to that review.

I set the time to 24 hour.
Stopwatch with split timer, just remember to press and hold the start/stop for a couple seconds after stopping the timer.
Timer is great with presets: ten-fifteen minutes is good for many things (get ready to go in 15, wife uses calendar :)), make kid practice writing for 15, go for a walk 30 minutes out then head back, ect,ect,...
Fully settable countdown: Water boils in 4, cook for 8 (sure there is a timer on the microwave but what if you want to leave the room?), exercise for 1, ect, ect again and I only use int1 so far.
Alternate time zone: not yet.
Alarm: definitely use, wish I had at least one more, time to get up, time to get kid from school for example.

Hope this helps.

I needed a second watch for reffing soccer matches. This watch has the same functionality as my much more expensive Casio FIFA World Cup Referee Watch. It even includes the vibration alert capability found in much more expensive watches.

So, why not give it five stars? Because the band is navy blue, not black like every other referee watch I've ever seen. The body of the watch is black. The clasp is black. The straps are navy. What's up with that?

If you need a great watch for soccer, at an amazingly low price, this is it.

I was excited to get this watch to replace the junker that I had. When I got it and read the directions and found out everything it could actually do, I was jumping up and down with joy. This watch is great! My third referee watch this year. I LOVE IT!
My only disappointment was it was blue not black when I got it. I didn't pay close enough attention when I ordered it.
