Let's get to the main gripe you hear about black/reverse digital watches - yes, it can be hard to read in low light situations. But the EL auto light feature takes care of this (which, by the way, does not activate in regular light, thus saving your battery). I prefer to leave the auto light off, and use the very cool button for the light (located just below the red "Shock Resist" wording and not on the sides).

I also have the GW1400DA-1AV and something I have noticed is the GW610DAJCP-1 is about 2/3 as thick (meaning it is thinner). Probably has to do with the digital analog vs. pure digital. I see this being my everyday watch now, although my plan is to wear whichever watch is not fully charged.

If you research this watch enough, you may come across a slightly different model that looks the same (GW610DA-1V). I can say for sure that the GW610DAJCP-1 is MADE IN JAPAN. Not movement Japan, Cased in Thailand (which many are). Some G-Shocks fetch a premium for this (check out the MTG series).

I went with the black/reverse face because it has a classier look to (IMO). I also have yet another Metal G-Shock which I really like, but alas, the battery has died and it just sits in my drawer waiting to be taken to the jewelry store. Definately get the Atomic Solar series. It's hard to wear anything else now.

At $79.99 this watch is an excellent value!
