If you are looking for an everyday watch that can withstand the abuse of being knocked around a few times, has cool features (such as a stop watch, countdown timer and alarms), maintain its functionality under water all the while looking cool and sophisticated, then this is the watch for you. I love this watch. The only drawback is that the light doesn't quite illuminate the entire face of the watch, but it's bright enough to figure out the time in the dark. That's the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating.
This is my second CASIO watch purchase and so far, I've been quite satisfied with my purchase.
The PROS:
1. Looks good
2. Relatively lightweight (compared to other CASIO G-Shock models)
3. Has 5 alarms - can set reminders for almost anything
4. Has a dual-time zone facility - changing to another time zone is as easy as it gets
5. Has metallic buttons on the side which are likely more durable than the plastic ones on other models
6. 200M water resistant - can wear it in almost any environment (added benefit of G-Shock)
The CONS:
1. Relatively large on the wrist - you may be unable to button some full-sleeve shirts with it on
2. Resin-cum-leather band - can be an irritant when wet as opposed to a resin band
3. The LED light is unidirectional (from bottom-left) - and not all parts of the dial get illuminated adequately, especially the multi-function display on the far top-right
All in all, a good value for money for the price you pay!

Bought this for my son, for two features: solar power and yacht racing timer. Casio watches offer a good value, and each model offers a slightly different combination of features aimed at specific uses. The controls are intuitive for such a full-featured watch.
It was purchased when previous Casio Pathfinder waterproofing failed after an $[...] battery replacement by Casio, but it was beyond Casio warranty, so replacement with this watch was cheaper than repair of the old Pathfinder. Hopefully this watch will last longer, since it is solar powered and should not have to be serviced for a long time. My family is "hard on watches". We have owned several Casio watches and they perform well, and are as durable as any other watches in their price range.
I am extremely pleased with the way this watch has performed for the past few years I have owned it. I bought it at a store a few years ago looking for a durable (tough) watch to wear to the gym and jobsites. I dont really utilize all the functions it does have. I paid a lot more for this watch when I bought it, and still am happy with it. If looking to spend a little more for a g-shock, I might go for one made with titanium to offset the weight.
Didn't meet my needs for repeating countdown timer for my exercise program. I spent more than I usually do for an exercise watch and was very disappointed. I replaced it with a less expensive Casio. I was pleased with Amazon's return procedure. I learned to be more penetrating on tech details for future watch purchases.

I've used this watch for more than 20 years, and it fits my needs quite well. I am old enough (56) to prefer an analog face; this one has excellent visibility because of the high contrast between dial and hands, so I can sneak a quick glance without appearing rude. (And it's nice to have the day and date in the little digital window.)
I don't need an altimeter, food processor, and phases of the moon on my watch, nor does my wrist need to make a statement about who I am. It's decent looking enough that I wear it in all but the most formal settings.
When we're in a dark theater, my partner with the expensive watch is always making me light up the dial on my watch to see the time!
I also like water resistance and a fair amount of durability, since I'm forgetful and unkind to watches. If I were to destroy it, it's cheap to replace. When the clear plastic face gets light scratches, I buff it with toothpaste. After 10 years, my first one of these bit the dust (the strap gave out), but I was delighted to discover it still being sold on Amazon.
Pros: very simple (no painting parts), black (for me is good), 50m water resistant, analog & digital time, backlight, crhonometer, dual time, alarm.
Cons: I'm thinking where I will found a spare strap in case of fail.
This is the perfect casual/sports/travel watch for me. Thin, black, water-proof, digital/analog/alarm/stopwatch. Form factor and function are just right. (Well, OK, the band was a bit too long, but that's easily remedied with an exacto knife.) I've had it for 20 years and haven't found another like it. My old one finally died and I was resigned to shopping around for a 2nd best. I'm truly amazed it's still available here - and at over 50% off! Maybe I'll buy 2...?
This might NOT be the right watch for someone who has thick wrists. And eventually - as in several years - the rubber band will break (I've got spares).
First let me state that I have been a fan of Casio watches for over 20 years due to their durability and accurate timekeeping. I've owned both analogue and digital Casios and they have always held up well even in punishing conditions including working construction, trips to the beach, travels around the globe, daily wear in the shower and the like. I've occasionally had to replace straps and batteries but none of their watches have ever failed me as timekeepers. I chose this watch because I wanted to have both a few frequently used digital functions along with a stylish analog dial. The case diameter and thickness are just about ideal for my wrist given that as a man I have to admit that my wrists are a bit on the thin side. However, this is not to suggest that men with beefier wrists than mine will be disappointed as the 38mm diameter is a great universal size. The watch is very easy to set albeit the analogue section can only be set in the forward direction. The minute hand advances in 20 second increments by pushing in a recessed button on the side of the case. Holding the button down advances the minute hand once around the dial in under 10 seconds. Stopwatch, alarm, and the dual time zone features on the digital section are handy too. But most important to me is having the month, date, and day of the week available for viewing. The EL backlighting feature of the dial is very bright and its only drawbacks are that it doesn't have the Casio Afterglow feature which keeps it lit for a second or two without having to hold the button and the backlight doesn't also illuminate the digital window. These are very minor drawbacks to what I think is a stellar design both technologically and aesthetically. If you need a watch to tell you the moon phases, altitude, latitude, longitude, or do your laundry, I think Casio makes those too, but for a stylish watch with a great combination of basic features and functions, the AW43-7E1V should fit the bill for most users.
My previous watch was a Casio AW47E1V - and I liked it so much that I ordered myself a new one when it broke down after a few years. This watch has all the stuff I need from a watch - analog and digital time, alarm function, light and reasonably good water resistance. I can recommend it to anyone who needs a basic yet trustworthy timepiece.
