Great watch. I have had this watch over a year now. It's practically indestructible. Never needs winding, never needs a new battery and never needs to have the time adjusted -- what more could you want.

My first G-Shock watch lasted 20 years -- I had to replace the batteries twice, but eventually it fell apart. This watch seems way more indestructible than the last one I had and I'll never need batteries. It's the perfect watch for someone who doesn't want to have to worry about a watch.

My Pulsar digital chronograph just died on my after 16 years of dependable service. Electric backlighting, extra alarms (5 vs 3) and the atomic clock sync are an improvement over the Pulsar. In addition, I like that the stopwatch function will keep track of hours. Two time zones are convenient for travel reducing the times to reset the watch. What I don't like about the watch are the little circles in the display showing synching just takes up valuable display space. I would rather they show the day and date together rather than pressing another button to get the missing info. Also the AM/PM indicator is inconspicuous and not where you would ecpect to see it. I bought a display model at JC Penney's (52% off) and noticed that the last synch with the atomic clock was 4 months ago and was off by 2 minutes. when I tried to set it manually, if failed no matter the location nor signal strenght. The automatic synching that occurs at midnight up to I think 4 AM finally worked when I set it and placed it near the window. The battery in the Pulsar would last about 4 years. Given that this is a special battery, if it doesn't last 10 or more years, I would think this is a marketing gimmick. Only time will tell if this watch is worth the premium over cheaper watches that have most of the same functions. I am tempted to try a heart rate monitor watch from ebay for only $10 that has most of the funciton of the Casio.

I've owned lots of watches. Most notably from: Swiss Army and Breitling. But also less expensive ones including one 10 dollar one covered in fake diamonds.

This g-shock is the *only* one that's lasted more than a few months. I've slammed it into metal railings, had 2x4's fall out of a demolished stud wall onto it, and been in pits at metal concerts with it on.

after all of that here's what's wrong: some of the printing on the plastic parts is worn down, seriously, the g-shock logos lost their red paint, omg!!

here's the good:

* The band has never broken. or needed replacing.

* It keeps trying to get an atomic signal from colorado (i live in virginia) several times a night at 2 , 3, 4, and 5am. and it succeeds some 95% of the time (so long as i don't have it next to electronical equipment or am running around with it at that time).

* it flawlessly figured it out when george w. bush changed daylight savings time.

* the battery has never needed changing and it's indicator has never dropped from "high" charge.

* when i go to a different timezone all i have to do is change the watch's zone during the flight and it's ready to go.

* the electronics and lcd face have no scratches and show no wear.

This watch in one o a kind and performs excellently. I am hard of hearing and cannot hear a normal alarm because of the high frequency (Hz) audio emitted. This vibrating alarm works consistently when on my wrist. It also works when sitting on the table next to me because the vibrations against the table or from the watch alone are a frequency that I can hear. Another big benefit is that it cannot be heard by others and doesn't disturb them. I only wish there were a way to stop the vibration alarm such as in a "snooze" mode. I want to be able to turn it off permanently until another cycle in 24 hours. Now I can only keep turning it off until it decides to permanently turn off, about 6 or 8 times.

I love this watch! It's gorgeous! The only thing that is less-than-great about it is that the display should have more contrast. I need to turn the backlight on to read the black-on-gold display at light levels significantly higher than with my watches that have black-on-gray displays. If I did this often, battery life would certainly be shorter than on my other watches but since I wear it primarily during daylight while at work, it's rare that I'll need to use it in low light.

This is a very nice looking watch. I needed something dressy and waterproof. This watch so far has been what I needed. I have one complaint and that is the dials on the face are hard to read and require more than a glance to get what information I need. The date for example. The hour hands also could be more distinct. The blend into the face to well for a casual glance to read. So I can't give this watch full ratings for simple issues like what the watch was made for.

This is not a fancy watch, but it is functional and looks nice. It is a good watch to wear to work every day. The information shown on the inside is not easy to read and the latch mechanism is strong, but has a gap that depending on your type of work, might get you caught on something.

I received the watch as promised - however a week after I received the watch, I noticed that it was being offered $49.95 ! This was almost $20.00 less than what I had paid ! This does leave a rather sour taste !

The small dials, I found were too small to read easily.

Wrist band adjustment should be put in with instructions with watch and show an illustration and one bad part that one customer wrote was the monthly adjustment ? We'll she was correct in that every month with less than 31 DAYS DOES NEED TO BE ADJUSTED ! It's not to difficult to do though . All-IN-All a good watch at a great price .

This is my all time favorite watch. I have owned one since about 1995, having special ordered it from AAFES. I recently misplaced it and thought I would never find another, but low and behold, they are still available for much less than the $80 I originally paid. This watch has a built in remote and lots of preprogrammed TV settings. -A blast when you are at a bar or restaurant when you have had enough of the channel they picked or want the volume up or down. If you have the remote for the device you want, you can "learn" anything and program it to any button. Mute is a good one to program, or any VCR functions fwd, rev, rec, stop, etc. Only drawback is that there is no backlight. Batteries last about 2 years under typical use. I am happy to report that my misplaced watch turned up, so now I have a spare! The original band lasted about a year, then I put a Speidel "speido-flex" band on it and it is much more comfortable (less sweat). Get one and have fun!

The description that this watch band fits Casio G-Shock is incorrect. I purchased this item to replace the original 16-mm band of a Casio G-Shock Model DW-5600E (The Classic). The Timex TX16G14 does not properly fit this watch. The 16-mm width is correct but the recesses molded into the band where it inserts into the body of the watch (at the spring bars) are not large enough to properly seat the band. The spring bars can be forced into place but the watch band then rigidly sticks out on both sides of the watch in the same plane as the watch body, and doesn't wrap snugly around the wrist (i.e., there is a large gap between the band and one's wrist on either side of the watch body). Subsequent research on other websites show that the various G-Shock watches have specific fitments for the 16- and 18-mm bands. I recommend identifying the Casio model number for the band that properly fits your watch and order the original factory band (which is more expensive) instead of this generic ill-fitting item. I did so and the new replacement band (with Casio factory replacement band number 71601288) fits perfectly.

I have had this watch for years and it updates every morning. The key is you can't lay it on its side. When you take it off at night, point the face towards Colorado and lay something on the band so it won't tip over. I usually us my toothpaste tube. I travel frequently across the entire country. This always works. By the way, I have owned many different brands of atomic watches and they all have the same issue.

This product was once sold by Hammacher Schlemmer until early last year (don't know why they did away with selling the product), however, I like the way the time stays accurate. The biggest drawback would be that if the watchband snapped after lots of wear and tear putting it on and taking it off (which happened to me that's why I purchased a replacement, it couldn't be replaced. Perhaps this model is discontinued.

Had this watch several weeks. Looks nice with a military appearance. Easy to read dial. Mine's going to run fast a few seconds a month but that is to be expected and within stated parameters. I actually carry it in my pocket so i wanted analog as opposed to digital because the digitals seem to get unintentionally adjusted in my pocket. I rate it a 5 because it's exactly as expected.

It is not a perpetual calendar so you will need to move the date forward on short months. You'll need digital to get perpetual calendar and i'm not even sure all digitals are perpetual.

I found this watch to be an outstanding value. I always enjoy getting maximum value for my money. As a senior citizen on fixed income this is important. This watch looks good, is very readable and with the velcro band is as comfortable as an expansion band. Had tried a G-shock but found it too big/cumbersome. The Forester model by Casio is a best-buy in my opinion.

The watch is of good quality, keeps time well, and keeps functioning despite my abuse to it.

However, the band will "skunk" like a gym sock after a few weeks. I have had three of these watches, and the original bands last about 3 months.

The watches are pretty good if you are willing to invest the time to replace the bands with plastic or rubber replacement straps.

I bought a 4$ rubber strap to replace the cloth when it fails, and the rubber strap will last about a year...

I received this watch as a Christmas present in 2004. The time of this writing is September 2007, and the watch is not only still running, it has the original battery! I've never had a watch that lasted this long on one battery. It has also survived without any major scratches or any other damage, despite the fact I wear it constantly while working in a warehouse. Easy to read, as well. A good, comfortable, rugged watch.

EDIT: Two years after I wrote this review, and this watch is STILL running with the original battery. Unbelievable!

I just received this watch today and I will be returning it. I found it too be too big for my wrist and a bit too manly looking. I've been trying to find a women's digital watch with an all stainless steel band and this fit the bill feature-wise but just wasn't feminine enough and is too big for my petite wrist.

As an alternative, I also ordered the Baby-G Ladies Watch Baby-G G-ms MSG-300D-4BDR-6 and will be keeping it. It's a bit smaller, fitting my wrist much better, and has a more feminine look. I would recommend checking it out instead of this one if you have a small wrist (mine is 5-1/2") and you don't want to look like you're wearing a man's watch.

My watch has to be digital because I like lot of feautures in one device, such as stopwatch, countdown, alarm and WR. The common problem with that kind of watch is the strap, usually plastic and not durable. Moreover, a classic problem for men's digital watches featuring all that stuff is the enourmus size, and the designs, almost always overelaborate.

This watch has all this features and is really beautiful, I mean gorgeus. Easy to use, easy to see the time. It's meant for women, but its size is perfect for a man with fine taste (and not really thin wrist). In fact, it's too big for a lady.

Everything perfect? I'm sorry it's not: the alarm sound... why so quiet? And the light, I'm sorry its white. The date is not visible enough, but everything else it's fine and pretty. The strap is very good quality and beauty too. So... almost perfect!

I purposely bought this watch because some of the reviews said that it was large for a woman's watch. I have a large wrist (for a woman) and it fits me perfectly. I also really wanted a digital watch, that didn't look like a runner's watch. The watch succeeded on both points and I love it.

That said there are a couple minor things I would note, for future buyers. First, the image on the site shows the face of the watch with a light greenish glow. The face does not look the least bit green; it's a grey background, even with the light feature. Second, the four dark grey accents around the face of the watch looked like metal to me, but they're actually like plastic/rubber. I really didn't like that at first but the more I wear it the less it bothers me.

The watch is a great deal and I wear it daily. I love it.

It is a nice looking watch & I do like the large easy to see numbers. But I'm not wild about the layout of the watch. The abbreviated day is shown next to the time & that's o.k. But below the time is the year shown first then the date & day. I'd prefer it the other way around. The other feature that I dislike, is that the light doesn't stay on as long as you have the button pressed. It only stays on for a couple of seconds. So I think I could have done better. But I'll live with it for the price I paid. Which was decent.

Great watch for little money. I love my G shock g5600 atomic solar, however it is a little uncomfortable to wear all of the time. I was looking for a watch with similar styling but that was not as bulky. This watch meets my needs perfectly. I am 6'2" and 240 lbs. and the watch does not look too small on me. The band is plenty long for people with thicker wrists. The only downsides are that it does not have a count down timer and it has an led light. But neither of these items are necessary for me. It is a nice alternative for people who like the styling of the classic g shock 5600 series but do not want a watch that is quite as large. As far as atomic time: it is nice, but digital watches usually keep very accurate time. With all of these watches the bands will break before the battery dies, so solar is kind of a gimmick as well.

It is nice to be able to see day, date and year at the same time on the watch as well. It looks like this one will be unavailable in the US soon. It is not listed on the Casio website for the US, but it is listed on the casio website for other countries.

Good throw away watch.

UPDATE: 3 DAYS LATER:

Watch face is extremely easy to scratch. I have had other watches for years with no scratches. But this one got a scratch in less that one day. I barely wore it. I don't think that I would get this watch for that reason in the future.

This is a good, solid product with many features such as chronograph, alarm and 200 meters water resistant for which other manufacturers charge a lot more. I did qute a bit of research and did not see anyhing with the same features comparable in price.

I gave this watch 5 stars considering the ratio between its aspect/features vs. price. I would have given this watch a 4 star overall when compared with more expensive watches.

Pros:

- easy to read

- 200 m water resistant

- mineral crystal

- rotating bezel

- although not mentioned by the manufacturer the alarm dial can be used to show another time zone

- standard bracelet; relatively easy to remove link

- no scratches on the crystal and no major scratches on the bracelet after 3 month of normal wear

- accurate timekeeping

Cons

- a little too big and heavy - that could a pro for people with large wrists

- takes some effort to rotatate the bezel, doesn't have a coin edge type and it is slippery

- if you use the alarm to show another time zone (which I did) you can still use the alarm function, but for some reason only when you use the alarm this second time zone (alarm dial)is loosing up to a few minutes and becomes out-of-sync with the normal time zone; however if you only use the alarm dial only for another time zone and do not set the alarm the two time zones remain in sync; since the manufacturer doesn't mention anything about a second time zone this little nuissance doesn't bother me

Overall, after more that 3 months of wearing it I am still very happy with this watch.

Beautiful watch. The only feature other than time and date though, is the stopwatch. So, if you don't plan to use an analog stopwatch, don't expect much more than time & date from this product. It is a shame it does not have an alarm neither a backlight. It has only the Neobright hands and markers that shine blue in the dark (Ironically, my $20 Casio Illuminator has a blue backlight & an alarm!!!). But I knew that before ordering this watch and bought it anyway because I found it beautiful. So, I cannot blame anybody for this.

Prompt delivery: it took only 1 week to receive merchandise since the day it was ordered. But whoever packed this order did not fill the carton completely with cushioning and the merchandise came tumbling inside the carton. When I opened the carton, the Casio original box that contained the watch was pretty beat up and teared. The little clear acrylic display stand which the watch comes wrapped around was pretty dusty and scratched. It seemed that this product was sitting for years in a dusty warehouse. I'm satisfied with the watch itself, though. It looks good on my wrist. Dressy and sporty at the same time!!

I bought this watch and also Casio's MQ247B analog watch. Both have stickers on manual booklets saying they have mercury (element Hg, does not say how much) in them! This may be just fine for many people but I try to avoid encouraging use of heavy metals in watch design. Specific to this AQ47-7E dual watch, the screen is made of soft material (acrylic?) and is raised so it will get scratched very easily. The construction of the watch is ergonomic, clean and light. The rectangular watch body is a bit narrower on the sides than the round-faced kinds, making its sides streamlined and not get in the way of wrist bending.

I've owned this watch for at least 5 years before the wrist band cracked. The watch itself still runs just fine. Consider that this $15 investment lasted 5 years, it's an amazing value.

The watch is fairly actuate and have alarm and dual time display, the wrist band is comfortable and the style is great.

This watch is a great everyday use timepiece. If you're looking for something that is affordable, has some extra features, and has a unique style this is the watch for you.

The watch feels well made and with some adjusting fits very well. The reflective blue face is beautiful, especially in the sunlight. The left side of the face tells you which features are activated as well as what mode you're in. Even though the actual hands are small, the bright white finish on them makes it fairly easy to make a quick glance and get the time.

The light on the watch is actually two orange LEDs which light up the hands enough to see what time it is. They don't provide enough light to see anything else on the face but in the middle of the night who actually needs to see the date or day.

The stopwatch only goes up to an hour so depending on your needs that may or may not be an issue. The time zone feature can be a little confusing especially if you don't know what the abbreviations are. Just being able to program a dual time might have been a better idea.

Overall I feel the watch is a great value for the price. It has only lost one second in approximately 3 weeks compared to the atomic timekeeping clock I have. If you stay realistic about the watch you won't be disappointed. You're getting a great looking watch that you won't have to wince at if it gets some bumps and bruises.

I travel several times a year, some times in three different continents. I was looking for a reasonably priced digital-analog watch of good quality. This watch comes in several colors, and I have the blue face. The square blue face is definitely pleasant.

Although I usually track of the time difference in my head, it is very useful to be able to see the time in different time zones at the press of a button. When you are at a new time zone, you don't need to manually change the time. A very convenient feature is to let you know your new city and the watch will automatically adjust the time in relation to your home city time as your new time.

It is rated to be water resistant to 100m. That means you can swim with it. I swam several times with this watch and it works flawlessly. I was also able to use the digital timer feature.

To my disappointment, the digital stop watch counts only up to 59'59". Though it has a 1/100 second feature. I was expecting at least a 24-hour chronograph.

The hourly signal works fine when needed, as well as the alarm. However, the alarm can only be set to a certain time. It does not provide the function of a count down timer.

The bracelet is good quality, unpolished stainless steel. The case is also unpolished. It is medium weight watch that wrests comfortably on the wrist.

The LCD beneath the analog clock is very easy to read in a well-lit environment. However you cannot read it in a dim environment, not even with the assistance of the built-in luminance light. The built-in light can only light the analog area in a dark environment for half a second.

For the design oversight of the lumination visibility and the timer, this watch gets one star off. For this price range, it deserves the four stars.

I got this watch mostly because it shows the date. Now I never have to look for a calendar or ask someone the date. It is sturdy. I've already dropped it innumerable times and had no problems. The face is relatively small. I like that because I don't have a big wrist. But the number size is perfect and everything is easy to read. Easy to program too, time, stop watch, and alarm settings. I once had a watch where there was a button to push to make the face light up; the light is one thing missing from this watch. But I like it a lot.

I use this watch while kayaking, so it gets wet constantly. Never a leak or an internal failure, in spite of its lack of being "water proof".

Its small size is much more comfortable on my wrist than typical sports watches, and the lack of a fancy lap time function isn't a factor for me - although I'm constantly using the stopwatch.

The only drawback is a band that isn't the strongest, but at this price, I buy three watches at a time to make sure I've always got "enough". Don't take that to mean the band breaks constantly. I'm pretty brutal and the band typically lasts a couple of years.

While technically my review for this watch might be misplaced, as I have purchased (in store) the PURPLE colored version, I find my satisfaction with the watch sufficient to overcome the color-barrier and location of purchase. The functions, esp. the snooze alarm (a total of 3 alarms, only one snooze) and the ability to have a select city's time available at a click (with 48 cities available in 29 time zones) can make it so much easier on a trip, rather than worrying about changing your watch for a different zone. I have long shunned getting a digital watch (for more than 30 years) but this one, esp. as it was PURPLE :) was just too great to pass on.

If you want a watch that has everything, this is it. My previous ultimate watch is the Citizen Skyhawk Titanium. My Citizen has everything this watch has - atomic timekeeping (so you never have to adjust your watch - how cool is that?), solar-powered (so you never have to change the battery - save $$$), standard functions such as countdown, chronograph, day/date, alarm, and then additional cool functions such as world time and back light (to see in the dark). But what sets this watch apart is the design and when I saw it in the store, I knew I have to get it. First of all, it has an analog face - the way a watch you look. None of that digital number face, its ugly. This one has a nice gold interior but you can get one with silver color which is then encased in protective hard plastic. Kind of blending of a formal watch and a sports watch - pretty cool design. The one thing you definitely can't do with the Citizen is throw it around and drop it and still have it working with no scratches. Lastly, it may be isolated or not, but it took me days for my Citizen to pick up the atomic signals and when it came time to change daylight savings time, it took a while for it to adjust as well. I took this watch out of the box and immediately the hands started moving frantically until it finds the correct time. Oh, I almost forget. The Citizen costs over 4x as much as this watch.

Returning it to the vendor was also a bit of a hassel because you need to contact them (phone or e-mail) and get an authorization number. So, I am continuing to wear my clunky Men's Digital Atomic watch and still looking for one sized for a woman.

I have long been a lover of watches, particularly the G-shock line. Extremely durable, functional and relatively inexpensive, I have had a G-shock since the early 1990s and have never looked back. Recently, Casio has elevated the watch to what I think may be among the "coolest tools" ever. My most recent G-Shock was the GW1200A, as rugged as always, but now with solar power and the "Wave Ceptor" atomic clock synchronization, this dual display analog/digital watch represented the culmination of many years of striving for perfection.

I really liked the elegant metal band and the very sweet analog+digital display. But several of the pins had broken over the past few years and I began to crave something newer and more elegant still...

Enter the GS1100BR-1A. This is a magnificent watch in every regard.

Differences from the old GW1200A:

The Good:

-Even more elegant-looking pure analog display

-Very fancy mechanics given all things are done with the analog display

-Thinner and lighter than the GW1200A

-No backlight (!)

Summary: A more elegant watch that aims to be something closer to a dress watch than the GW1200A, the few compromises are welcome for an overall spectacular product that I highly recommend.

I ordered my watch & it arrived in pristine condition. Upon taking it out of the box, it did not take much light to get it activated. As other people have pointed out previously, the watch is big and the manual is about 40 pages (thickness of manual is due to other languages within manual). At first I was a little confused about the smaller three dials, however going clockwise from top-left to the bottom they are: 24-hour/military time, modes/days of week, and second hand. The large second hand is the stop-watch second hand & is used for other settings, not for counting seconds. This design is obviously to conserve the energy charge on the internal solar-powered battery.

If you know anything about vi in UNIX, the watch modes are the same way. First set the mode that you want the watch to be in, certain dials will move to indicate what mode it is in, then you can adjust the settings.

I had an issue following the alarm clock settings with the manual & could not get it to work. However, I found an Easy Guide to Setting G Shock Giez pdf on Casio's website (use Google to search) which had alarm clock instructions that made it easier to figure out. After that, it was child's play to set the alarm.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase & now I just want to make sure that I don't scratch it or bang it into anything while using it. :)

This is close to a perfect watch. Very comfortable and well designed. Easy to read face. Just wished the auto time tracking would automatically change with the various time zones. Resetting at each of multiple time zones can be time consuming and troublesome. Time adjustments could be a bit less complicated. Great color combo. Sharp looking watch. Nice customer service.

The watch is big, so be prepared for a big bold thing dangling from your wrist.

The functions of the watch are just amazing. Everything works as it should. You cant expect a watch with all these functions to be accurate to the minutest detail.For what you paid for, this is pure technology in your wrist.

For those that whine about how it was off or this or that, read the manual, it says that you can recalibrate the watch if it ever gets magnetized by constant exposure to large speakers (like placing the watch on a huge woofer)or other things. The compass will also be off by a marging of 15 degress, if you are standing under huge powerlines. Which is completely understandable. Its a electronic sensor and not a magnetic needle. The manual is pretty thick, read it carefully and then try to understand its functions and how it works and you will not be dissapointed.

Make sure to place the watch on constant light whenever you can to get the solar cells running.

Other than being little big on your wrist, i have no complaints.

Great sports watch for the great outdoorsman. It looks great if you have a big wrist with its big face. Temp sensor is way off, you need to take it off and let it climatize about 15 minutes to get it close to accurate. I still like it anyways.

I was looking around for a cheap and simple dual time digital watch and this Casio turned out to be perfect for my need. Aside from dual time this watch only has simple alarm and stopwatch on a nylon band. That is all.

My previous dual time was Timex and I loved that one too except that unlike this Casio, Timex didn't have 10 year battery installed so the battery was replaced at very expensive cost. :(

I've worn this watch for about a month now and am very satisfied. It's quite a bit less bulky than most G-Shocks and I find it to be very comfortable. I will note however that the time characters on the face of the watch are more gold tone than silver/white as depicted in the picture.

Also, the band has many square openings to allow venting for the wrist, but in my experience these tend to enable the band to crack and break as it is stressed over time.

The features of this watch all work as advertised. The sole caveat is you need to leave it close to a window to allow it to update it's time. I've found this to be no big deal... if I prop it up so it's twelve o' clock position is even aimed at a window it captures the time signal.

I've always thought highly of Casio watches and have worn many. In fact this purchase replaces another Casio which I'd still be wearing if it were not for the band finally becoming upreplaceable/unrepairable. I have a Protrek also which I absolutely love, too. This seems like a very good watch and the black face gives it a sleek, understated look which I think is very nice.

I bought this watch because I always seem to need batteries in my other ones. I love the idea of a solar powered watch and I have been getting the time from the Atomic clock on my PC for years now....so the two together...Great idea!

I also wanted something looked good and is tough! Casio has all this and more....My only real complaint is that I just couldn't see the numerals...they are a very anemic white against a black background and they are so small I had to get out my reading glasses to see the time....they have another model which I should have gotten instead, that has black numerals against a white background but it doesn't look as good as this one :(

Just got the watch - :D

first impressions

I wanted a stainless steel watch with dual time capability (world time mode works well for this)

so i know what time it is in another country...and this is just perfect

Not only is does it feel solid (like a G-shock), it has a very classy design with imformative digital read outs large enough

without straining the eye.Alright, lets bullet the point out for this watch:

positives:

1.)The watch was fairly easy to set (kinda annoying to set the analog though - need to let the hands run around and around)

2.)The band feels fairly solid, like the other brand name watches in the 200-300 range

3.)its a heavy watch (I think of this as a positive - im a fairly big guy)

4.)looks great. I bought the white faced one. This thing has a hummer look to it. The white textured background (not printed

on cheap paper) gives it a whiff of elegance. When the amber lights turn on, looks downright classy.

5.) most of metal on the watch is not the shiny type, should be fairly scratch resistance

6.)it is a rare item; finally a proper stylish metalic G shock - hope it hold up like a G-shock

7.) LCDs are quite readable (not sure about the inverse lcds)

negatives (this is small picky stuff)

1.) when I recieved the watch, there were some scatches like someone just returned it...:(..beware, good thing i was able to buff out most of it

2.) hands will block out some of the digital readout, but not all of it (could be read off from an angle)

3.) parts of the back (framage) is made out of the type of plastic in plastic g shocks (not all metal..oh well)

4.) mechanically intensive (you can hear it click when u set the analog time) - might run the battery down fast

5.) heavy - not light like a seiko; think of it as a heavy divers watch

I was originally planning to buy the Timex one (the one that was in stranger than fiction, but after checking it out at

a store, it just didnt look good (looks like a regular ole watch with a lcd in the back); this one has style but

at double the cost :( - oh well, lets hope it hold up for a while

When I was looking for a watch that I could go SCUBA diving in, most of them were >$200 and had rubber bands that did not look that nice. This watch not only was very reasonably priced, but looked very nice as well. The crown is a little tall, but for a diving watch is acceptable. All the additional features are very nice, which is mostly just a bonus to me but some may find them more useful. Overall I would definately make this purchase again, if you are not wanting a watch for diving read the specs carefully, it does have a tall face.

Made for the rugged sea-farer, this Casio Pathfinder Triple Sensor men's digital watch (model SPW1000-2V) includes a built-in digital compass, thermometer, barometer, and depth gauge. It's also solar powered and offers wireless atomic clock updates. This radio-controlled watch receives a time calibration signal transmitted from Fort Collins, Colorado, and signal reception is possible within a radius of about 2,000 miles from the Fort Collins transmitter. You can choose to automatically receive this signal four times a day, or manually update the watch to the atomic clock.

And because it's solar-powered--charging in either sunlight or indoor light--you'll never have to deal with changing the battery. Light enters the watch through the sapphire crystal and dial, and hits a solar cell beneath the dial. Current is created and stored in the battery.

The digital compass displays 16 directions and has a 5-set memory capacity that captures direction, month, date, and measurements time data. You can predict changing weather patterns using the PathfinderÕs barometer. It takes readings every two hours, stores them automatically, and can graphically display the barometric pressure for the past 26 hours. It also offers a depth gauge to measure and record ranges from 0 to 80 meters (0 to 263 feet). You can change from meters to feet easily. The watch uses a system-specific nitrogen loading graph.

Timing functions include a 1/100-second stopwatch with a 60-minute measuring capacity with elapsed time, split time, and 1st/2nd place time modes, optional hourly signal, daily alarm, 12/24-hour format, and autocalendar (to 2039). Other features include a durable blue resin case and strap, scratch-resistant mineral crystal, AfterGlow LED electro-luminescent backlight, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet).

This is an awesome watch. But one thing completely BAFFLES ME TO NO END - there's no altimeter! The watch already has a barometer, it's a matter of simple calculation - and you can convert from pressure to altitude, but the watch doesn't do it.... (?) RIDICULOUS!!! The only thing I can figure is that Casio wanted to sell you another watch for hiking... As it is, you'll have to walk around with a calculator or a cheat-sheet to convert the hPa to altitude... Irritates/baffles me... It'd be so easy to implement, given that all the sensors to do this are there... I swear CASIO marketing team did this just to drive me nuts...

(here you go, print this out, and swear at casio everytime you have to use it, because they decided not to build this simple relationship in)

Casio has done it again. It does absolutely everything (except complex dive calculations) you would want in a dive watch for recreational diving. I use is primarily for freediving. It is a wonder why it is not more widely available (I've never seen it in a dive shop) and used more. The only reason is it is eschewed by some is that they have been fooled into believing the more expensive watches are better because they are more expensive. These are the same people who pay $600 for Gucci bags.

Nice multi-function watch for the everyday adventurer. Large display for easy reading. Watch holds a decent charge, even after a week in my drawer. Many useful features. Such as, barometer for forecasting weather changes. Compass for underwater and land navigation. Depth gauge that moniters and logs multiple dives. Has a neat world atomic clock receiver for TRUE times. Casio rates the watch for ONLY recreational swimming and snorkeling. But was designed to handle 100 meters or 300 ft. Hmmm... So far, have scuba down to 120 ft. a few times with no adverse affects on the watch. NOTE! NOT a professional diver watch! I wouldn't recommend going pass 100 ft. Must set functions to be used on surface before submersion. Otherwise, water might get pass the seals if any of the buttons are depressed while submerged.

The watch is a little bulky and also I have to take off a few sections of the metal strap to fit my wrist. It has enough function for sport events (also for daily use). The instruction is explicit and not too difficult to learn. It is reasonably priced. 10 years battery gives extra merits for this versatile watch.

This is an unbelieveable model from Casio. Accuracy and battery life are never concerns with Casio watches. The few things I am not delighted about with most Casio models are their cheap plastic looks and the rubber watch band which easily breaks.

If you are a Casio fan you will not believe that this is a Casio - it is beautiful, elegant and solidly built like expensive switch watches and it is extremely conmfortable to wear too on my hands. An amazing but delightful aberration in the Casio lineup. You will fall in love with this the moment you see it (photos do not do justice)

It does take a couple of days to get used to and I had to take a couple of links out to get a good fit around my wrist.

This watch took a lot of contemplation to buy instead of an ana-digi watch, but I now think it worth it. The front of the watch is very stylish with it's part chrome bezel and smaller date indicators (the inside is glow in the dark so that you can even see the second hand). It has a shiny band and is a comfortable fit once you trim it to fit. I haven't tested it yet, but I can't wait to prove the WR 200M label with a scuba dive.

P.S. BEWARE OF THE CROWN!!! You may think it just pulls out, but in order to be waterproof, you need to UNSCREW IT, then it clicks out very easily. If you want it to be waterproof, you should screw the crown back in when you're done.

Amazon provided terrible customer service throughout the buy process, the worst I have ever been through.

The watch itself is not bad. My only complaint is that it doesn't show digital date, time, and day of week at the same time. Other G-shocks do show all the info simultaneously. For this one, you have to toggle between the three.

There are a few reasons I returned this item.

To start with the watch hands and date are almost impossible to see in low light conditions. Even in a well lit, bright room, I had to really look hard to see the hands on the face. The hands blend into the face of the watch making it very difficult to do a quick time check. I have very good vision and had to hold the watch close to my face to read the time. The date window is so small, I'm surprised anyone would be happy with this watch if they use that feature. (just look at the photo) I was really disappointed to see that there was no way to set the watch to show the date and the day simultaneously. Maybe that's trivial but all of my other Casios have shown date, day and time all at once. (I have owned 4)

I also tested the light while standing in a closet. I was very disappointed to see how dim it is. I couldn't see the time hands at all and the date is so tiny, you almost need a magnifying glass to read it. There is no way to see the time of day using the watch light. NONE. Why on earth would you design a watch light that doesn't show the time when it's illuminated? I sure couldn't use the digital feature considering the window and font are so small. I work the night shift and need a watch that really lights up. I need to be able to see day, date and time without using a flashlight for additional light.

In closing I currently have a G-Shock model G-3110-1VCF that has been abused and worked great for years. I have given a very honest review and would not recommend this model or any similar model to anyone. Thank you and I hope this information can be helpful in your decision.
